Moved Two Miles

eh_aerial.jpg
East Hampton, NY - In April 2007, Davis Construction moved six histoirc buildings two miles from Further Lane to East Hampton Town Hall. The last half mile of the move was completed in one day, by moving all six structures simultaneously down Montauk Highway. The houses moved across the 40 acre property, across Further Lane, across a farm field, through the yard of 20 Skimhampton road, where they sat until moving day when they completed their journey down Montauk Highway and onto the field in front of East Hampton Town Hall, you can view a map of the route by clicking here.

The houses were moved in the following order:
Peach Farm Cottage -  32’x54’x29’ - 104,000 lbs.
Drive Thru Barn - 32’x69’x28’ -  40,000 lbs.
Pool House - 32’x 52’x32’ -  80,000 lbs.
Bridgehampton Barn - 34’x 60’x35’ -  120,000 lbs.
Main House - 34’x64’x45’ - 300,000 lbs.
Hand House - 35’x64’x36’ - 195,000 lbs.

These historical buildings were moved to Further Lane in the 1970's from other places in East Hampton and were converted into living quarters by the owners Adelade deMenil and Edward Carpenter. When they recently decided to sell their property, they didn't want to see the historic buildings demolished so they dontated them to East Hampton Town where they will be converted into offices.
